10.2.8 Accident And Loss Prevention

POLICY

The Office of Risk Management at Wayne State University considers accident and loss prevention as one of its most important responsibilities. Accidents which result in personal injury or damage to university property or equipment are a needless waste and loss. ORM is to maintain standards of loss control and to be prepared to cope with emergency situations, to eliminate and minimize the causes of accidental loss and to develop conditions which allow W.S.U. to fulfill its educational role free from personal and property losses. Any incident, occurrence, event or exposure that could cause personal injury or damage to property is to be reported immediately to Office of Risk Management.

  1. Insure that the individual work area is risk free.

  2. Report any incident, occurrence, event or exposure that could cause personal injury or damage to property.

ORM

  1. Investigate exposures reported or identified.

  2. Advise the appropriate, Dean, Director, or Department Chairperson of the hazardous risk identified and follow-up to see that the appropriate action has been taken.
