3.3.13 Separation

DEFINITION(S)

Separation

When an employee's payroll and/or personnel relationship with the University ends. Valid separation reasons are:

  1. Appointment Canceled

  2. Appointment Completed

  3. Appointment Declined

  4. Death

  5. Failure to Return from Leave of Absence

  6. Involuntary Separation/Release

  7. Recall Rights Expired

  8. Resignation

  9. Retirement (See APPM section 3.3.11)

POLICY

Involuntary terminations for non-academic personnel are coordinated with Human Resources prior to notifying the employee. Such terminations for academic personnel are coordinated with the Provosts' Office.  If an employee is eligible for any payoff of sick and/or vacation bank, the Employing Unit may use non recurring salary funds for such payoff.
