8.2.2.2 Accidents

POLICY

In accordance with State of Michigan statutes, a police report must be filed for accidents involving personal injury and/or $400.00 or more in property damage (see section 8.2.2.6, Vehicle Body Repair). Accidents involving university-owned vehicles must be reported personally by the driver to his/her supervisor and to Transportation Services. Failure to report accidents may result in denial of future vehicle use. Drivers involved in more than two (2) accidents may be denied future vehicle use.

  1. Notify supervisor and Transportation Services (by phone) of the accident.

  2. Complete Michigan Universities Self-Insurance Corporation (M.U.S.I.C.) Accident Report within twenty-four (24) hours of accident.

  3. Bring the vehicle and the Michigan Universities Self-Insurance Corporation (M.U.S.I.C.) Accident Report to Transportation Services.

Transportation

  1. Report accident to Risk Management.

  2. Submit copy of Michigan Universities Self-Insurance Corporation (M.U.S.I.C.) Accident Report to Risk Management.

  3. Follow instructions from Risk Management.
