6.2.1 Personal Use of University Equipment
Incidental and limited personal use of certain equipment (generally, office equipment, telephones, computers, printers etc.) may be deemed acceptable if it meets the following criteria: a) does not reduce the effort or hours worked by the employee, b) does not interfere with business usage, and c) does not adversely impact the useful life or value of the asset or result in material incremental cost to the university. This subsection of the policy does not apply to scientific, research, medical, and transportation related capital assets. Personal use of such assets must have written authorization from the appropriate Dean or Vice President. This authority cannot be delegated.
