3.4 Benefits

DESCRIPTION

The nature and amount of benefits available to employees is dependent upon their job group and are detailed in collective bargaining agreements and the Personnel Manual for All Non represented Personnel. Due to policy revisions and/or bargaining unit negotiations, fringe benefits are subject to change. Current provisions related to benefits are available through the Benefits Administration Office and those provisions apply in the event of differences between any informational release and the specific provisions of the benefit in question. Consult the Benefit Administration Office for additional information, for conditions applicable to fractional-time appointments or to affirm current policy.

Currently collective bargaining agreements exist for employees represented by the following unions:

  1. American Association of University Professors

  2. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL- CIO, Local 1497

  3. Greater Detroit Building and Construction Trades Council

  4. Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, Local 24

  5. International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 547

  6. International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 547 (Supervising Engineers)

  7. Professional and Administrative Union, U.A.W., Local 1979

  8. Service Employees International Union, Local 177-M

  9. Staff Association, U.A.W., Local, 2071

  10. Wayne State Police Officers Association/F.O.P.

Employees represented by these unions should consult their collective bargaining agreement for details concerning benefits. All other employees should consult the Personnel Manual for all Non represented Personnel. Should a question concerning employee benefits arise, consult the Benefits Administration Office for further information.
