99-6 University Activities During Severe Weather Conditions (Fifth Release)

1.0  Purpose

1.1     The Board of Governors has delegated to the president, in section 2.2 of the bylaws, full authority as chief executive officer of the University and has, in addition, authorized the president to designate the duties of other executive officers.

1.2     It is the purpose of this University Policy to delegate to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Operations authority regarding University classes and operations during severe weather conditions.

2.0  Delegation Of Authority

2.1     The Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Operations is hereby delegated authority to determine the transition to remote operations, the cancellation of classes or the continuance or discontinuance of University operations during severe weather conditions. The Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Operations may delegate the authority for closing off-campus centers and other areas of the University as he/she deems appropriate. It shall be his/her responsibility to promulgate procedures for notification of decisions during such conditions, such as Wayne State Alerts and posting such notices on the University's home page at www.wayne.edu

3.0  Duration

3.1      This delegation is revocable by the president at any time and without notice.

3.2      This University Policy supersedes University Policy 1999-06, Fourth Release.

4.0  Effective Date

4.1      This university policy is effective upon issuance.
