DESCRIPTION
Employees who qualify for retirement are eligible for the following benefits:

$2,500 university paid group life insurance (except employees represented by the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, Local 24).

Continuation in group medical plan at employee's expense.

Payoff of sick bank, if applicable.

Free university parking.

Subscription Campus News.

ID card for university theater discounts and WSU library access.
Please refer to appropriate contracts or the Personnel Manual for Non-represented Employees,which contain age and years of service required, as well as vacation payoff eligibility.
DEFINITION(S)
Retirement | Severance of university service after attainment of a prescribed age and completion of a prescribed period of employment. |
POLICY
Eligibility for represented employees is determined by union agreement. For tenured faculty, the mandatory retirement age is the July 1st following the 70th birthday. For all others, there is no mandatory retirement based on age. If an employee is eligible for any payoff of sick and/or vacation bank, the Employing Unit may use non recurring salary for such payoff.
